Nancy is travelling with her daughters Melanie and Estefanie, from Guerrero, Mexico. they are seeking asylum in the US, because of the extreme violence in Guerrero, and have been sent back to Tamaulipas under the MPP Protocol while they wait for their case to be heard. They are sleeping rough near the Rio Bravo in Matamoros while they wait.
"The delinquency is horrible in our State. If you work, you work for the criminals, not for yourself, they take everything. It's dangerous to go out in the street. We've left escaping.
People have come here, with food and blankets. But when we go to the bridge, they [the officials] send us back. They told us there's no space left there, that we should go back to where we came from."
