Cristi is from Comayagua, Honduras, she travelled to the US with her father to escape a gang that was trying to forcibly recruit her, threatening her so she would work in a protection racket, in extortion. Refusal to take part in a gang is often met with violent reprisals, rape and murder, including against family members. So, they left.
