We were the only people allowed to march in Paris today, with so many restrictions on mobilisation. Coming together as human beings we realise that we share feelings, that we are the same. If we could feel this more often our world would be better. Now is the time to get started to make a better world, and we can move fast, we should move fast."

 • My name is Olav Fykse Tveit, I'm the general secretary of the World Council of Chruches. COP21, this huge event, is gathering the countries of the world, and it is also gathering the peoples of the world. We are here as the World Council of Churches believing in God but also believing that change is possible. I see signs of hope, one is that there is now a common understanding of the problem, that we have to do something, and it has to happen now. Willingness to act is what has to be shown here. We are here to support these efforts and accept that we have to work together, politicians, civil society, people in the business and finance sectors, anyone with the ability to make a difference, we have have to pull together and make this happen now.

 • "My name is Diana Rios, I am an Ashenica, indigenous, from the border area between Peru and Brazil, in the Amazon region. Iíve come to bring the voice of my community, to tell people about the situation we are in. We have problems, the logging concessions are still being given, the mining concessions are still being given, the petrol drilling concessions are still being given, on our land. People here who donít know can easily be fooled, but they donít fool us. These are things that are happening to us. They threatened to kill my father, and they killed my father, as he tried to stop loggers coming in to destroy the forest. We are also being threatened by illegal loggers."

 • "Im Henrik Grape, I'm working for the Church of Sweden and the World Council of Churches Climate Change group. We are here to bring the message from the faith communities that to overcome the climate change itís not enough with politics and technical issues, we also need value-based changes for the transformations that we need.

The Church of Sweden has its own environmental work in parishes, where targets are set to reduce the environmental footprint of churches, but we have also divested from fossil fuels completely, and this is a very clear signal that you must look where you have your investments, from a moral point of view. The result of our divestment, financially, is that the returns on our portfolio have improved, so people who are skeptical of divestment financially should take note."

 • "My name is Joe Ware, I'm the Church and Campaigns journalist at Christian Aid based in London. Weíre all here to get the world on track to a low-carbon planet, one that will tackle climate change and its effects. Itís not just about bringing down emissions, itís also about dealing with the effects that weíve already created, and helping those communities that are suffering the consequences. After 21 attempts, weíre finally at a big meeting where weíre hopeful we are going to get an actual deal which will put us on that pathway. The most important thing is a political signal to the world that this is the direction we are going in. Itís already happening outside of this conference with investors and businesses and all sorts of exciting developments and weíre here to make sure that the politicians and the governments can actually get it written down on paper and make that signal concrete for the world to see.

Christian Aid is an anti-poverty charity that looks at the cause of poverty, climate change is a cause that we work on and weíre passionate about seeing it get fixed. Weíre fortunate enough to have some very well qualified policy and advocacy staff working with us, and they engage in the process. We believe in tackling the structural causes of poverty. If we can get a good deal, it will make the lives of poor people better around the world."

 • "My name is Patriciah roy Akullo, I'm the advocacy officer for the ACT Alliance in Uganda. Uganda has positions that we want to be incorporated into the final agreement. Itís important for us to see progress on mitigation, adaptation and the building of resilience, and these all require finance. Our communities are already affected by the impact of climate change, some of our communities are already suffering from extreme hunger because of droughts from climate change, they cannot grow food. Some of our communities are affected by flooding, and they need to build resilience to live in safer conditions. We are hoping for an agreement here that will help protect communities in Uganda from climate change."

My islands are slowly being eroded, weíve lost houses and villages. Our crops are failing because they are being inundated with salt water and salt water is getting into the fresh water. Within the next few years we need to move half of our population out of our home because the atoll environment cannot sustain 4500 people who are there at the moment. Climate change is affecting the lives of my people now."

We are on the front line of climate change, with rising seas, salt water seeping into our fresh water, destroying our agriculture. So, weíre here to tell our stories and make the decision makers aware of what is really happening. We want them to put themselves in our shoes, so that can take action, because thatís what we need, action."
