The petrol is heavily subsidised and is thought to be the cheapest in the world at 0.95 Bolivares a litre. At current exchange rates you couldn't fit one US dollar's worth of petrol in a car. A taxi driver uses around 50 US cents of petrol in a day's work, at the official and less-favourable exchange rate.
