The chief of Seduya village, centre, sits outside his house. One of the chief's functions is the protocol of meeting visitors and making sure the appropriate hospitality and welcome is given. Hospitality has culture and religious importance, and though the village is poor, and muslim inhabitants are fasting for Ramadan, the chief ensures that visitors eat well and have a place to sleep.
The small village of Seduya, Koinadugu is in a remote district of Kabala province, in northern Sierra Leone, an area heavily affected by the civil war in the 1990s. Working with partner Christian Extension Services, World Renew is helping the village with agricultural trainining to improve harvests and with sanitation and clean water supply.
